Pirelli confirms compounds for Belgium and Hungary

Pirelli has confirmed the compounds to be used in the final double-header before the summer break.

The compounds selected for the Belgian Grand Prix, scheduled from 17 to 19 July, are the three middle options in the range: C2, C3 and C4.

Spa-Francorchamps is one of the most spectacular and popular circuits on the calendar. The track is the longest of the season, at over seven kilometres, and, in terms of tyre stress, is second only to Silverstone and Suzuka.

For the Hungarian Grand Prix, from 24 to 26 July, the softest trio of compounds has instead been chosen: C3, C4 and C5.

The level of forces at the Hungaroring is not particularly high in absolute terms, but the short length of the circuit leads to significant accumulation over each lap.

In terms of degradation, the high temperatures that typically represent the seasonal peak in Budapest must also be taken into account.
